FastFlick v1.0 is Released!

I've given FastFlick a well deserved facelift during the past couple of days. Windows 7 users will be happy to know that it now works on that OS.

With this launch FastFlick comes out of Beta and goes into full release mode. I really hope you guys enjoy using it and please don't hesitate to leave comments, both negative and positive are welcome.

Changes done in 1.0:
  • Works in Windows 7.
  • Works in Windows Vista without having to turn off UAC.
  • Some new nifty features I'm sure some of you will like.
  • Redesign of the UI from head to toe.
  • Added a small splash screen so people don't pass this off as their own software.

Future plans for FastFlick.

I've been planning on where I should further develop this program and the logical answer is search for everything!

Well, not really everything.

I want users to be able to find music albums, movies, software and maybe even subtitles for movies.

Single MP3 downloads are not possible given that they are almost never to be found on torrents so that's out of the question. Complete albums however are a definite possibility and I'll be working on that this month.

As for software, you'll be able to write down Adobe Photoshop CS4 and instantly download said software with the best possible speeds, with the least amount of risk from viruses.

Subtitles will be a bit more tricky because each movie rip is different. If you download a .srt file there is a chance that you'll have subtitles that are out of sync. So, I have decided that you'll be able to select the language and FastFlick will download the movie with the file at the same time, ensuring you have the correct .srt file.

Great things are coming to FastFlick guys. It's just a matter of time.

In the mean time please let me know what you think I forgot! I'd love to hear some of the ideas you guys would like to see in FastFlick. Maybe you don't like the layout, maybe you have a feature idea, whatever you can think of let me know.

All the best and happy torrenting,

FastFlick 0.5 Beta is Released!

After a couple of days I've decided on a layout for FastFlick. It looks much nicer now, and has less bugs to deal with so I hope you all like it.

New features include:
  • User searches are saved in the Window so you can search for multiple movies.
  • Works with Windows Vista now. (you must disable UAC)
  • Smaller, lighter code. Works much faster now.

What you need for it to work:
  1. .NET Framework 3.0 or higher
  2. Windows XP or Vista (I haven't tested it on Windows7 but it should work)
  3. An active internet connection.

Here's how FastFlick works:

It's as easy as 1.2.3.

1. Launch the program!
2. Search Movie.
3. Click Download!

FastFlick 0.1 Alpha is released!

Hi there folks.

FastFlick is finally in a semi-acceptable form. Keep in mind this is an extemely rough Alpha version but it should do the job correctly.

Right now the thing I need most is for people to start toying with the program. Deliberately trying to make it crash.

Here's how FastFlick works:

It's as easy as 1.2.3.

1. Launch the program!
2. Search Movie.
3. Click Download!

In order for FastFlick to work you must have the following requirements:

  1. Windows XP (There is a bug on Vista that doesn't allow me to save on C:\)
  2. An active internet connection.
  3. A torrent client installed and set as your default torrent client. Can be anything you want.
  4. You must type the movie name correctly. The programming isn't very smart at this stage so if you type a title incorrectly it may or may not find what you are looking for.
The following are known bugs in the program:

  1. Searching for ambigous names like Spiderman, the application goes a little crazy figuring out if you want Spiderman 1, 2 or 3.
  2. Doesn't work on Windows Vista. [This is planned to be fixed in the next version]
  3. During a movie search the GUI freezes until it finishes searching.
